This is one of the largest personal injury jury verdicts ever in New Jersey history. The appellate court reversed the judgment, finding that the DYFS defendants were all statutorily immune from lawsuit liability.

This nurses and doctors failed to recognize that the child was having circulation problems in his leg. This delay resulted in the child having one of his legs amputated as well as a toe on the other foot. The hospital, nurses and doctors paid $12.5 to settle this medical malpractice lawsuit.
-$12 million medical malpractice jury verdict against an oral surgeon involving wrongful death.

-$10 Million Jury Verdict for failure to provide police protection. This Action was brought on behalf of a young child who was severely burned by a Molotov Cocktail explosive device that was thrown into the bedroom of his family’s apartment by an unapprehended perpetrator. The jury awarded $10,000,000. in compensatory and punitive damages, which award was reduced by the trial judge to $2,400,000. and affirmed on appeal. The jury found that the police broke their promise to the victim’s family to put surveillance on their home on the night of the attack in order to catch the perpetrator in light of prior similar incidents and pending threats against a family member.
