An arrest doesn't automatically mean you'll stay in jail until your case goes to court.

In Georgia, a judge may allow your release on bond while your case is pending. Depending on your situation, that could include:

• Cash Bond : You pay the full amount to the court.
• Property Bond: Real estate is used as collateral.
• Surety Bond : A licensed bail bondsman posts the bond for a fee.
• Release on Your Own Recognizance: You're released based on your promise to appear in court.

A judge also has the authority to set conditions for your release, which may include no-contact orders, travel restrictions, drug or alcohol testing, or an ignition interlock device in certain DUI cases.

Understanding your bond, and the conditions that come with it, is an important first step in protecting your rights.
