What families know and what families can actually do are different things
I’ve sat across from families who genuinely knew what their loved one wanted.
There wasn’t a lack of communication.
There wasn’t a lack of trust.
The difficulty was that knowing someone’s wishes isn’t always enough.
The legal authority to act matters.
The documents matter.
The structure matters.
That is one of the reasons I believe estate planning should be approached as more than paperwork.
It’s about translating someone’s intentions into a framework their family can actually use when circumstances require it.
