We are thrilled to announce some BIG changes at Angelina & Herrick.
First and foremost, Congratulations to James Gentile and Peter Fitzgerald on being named Partners at the practice. Both James and Peter have spent years working to develop relationships with real estate professionals. They have garnered the respect of many in the field and will continue to be a big part of the growth of our firm.

Angelina & Herrick has also brought on a new partner, John Boyd to head up our new Litigation practice. As a 2006 graduate of John Marshall Law school, John brings with him 17 years of legal experience and practice in various litigation areas. With experience in corporate litigation, association law, zoning and land use, premises liability, landlord-tenant disputes, evictions, and foreclosures John will be able to provide all of our clients with professional and sound litigation advice. We are very excited for this expansion of our firm.

Real Estate is alive and well! Our office closed over 100 transactions in the month of April.
Realtors are out working hard, home inspectors are doing their jobs, appraisers are appraising, lenders are getting the loans done with great rates and title companies and closers (the unsung heroes) are getting the job done.
We are here and we are working.

Regarding the Illinois “Shelter in Place” order that was enacted March 20, 2020: Lenders and title companies are being considered “financial institutions” and therefore are exempt from the Shelter in Place rules. All closings will continue as planned. Title companies have enacted procedures for safety limiting the presence of people at the closing to only buyers required to sign.

Our office staff and attorneys are working remotely and will respond as soon as they can. Stay safe!

The market is picking up. We are seeing a lot of contracts come in and are very grateful for them. The thing we are hearing time and time again from buyers and agents is that there is a lack of inventory. If you or someone you know is thinking about selling, this is the time. Please remember, we are here to help you through the entire closing process.

Chicago Title is enacting new protections against the ongoing problem of wire fraud. Now Chicago Title will ask for the buyers email so they can securely communicate with the buyers and send them wiring instructions. This is a good step in fighting against wire fraud. All buyers must be careful when wiring funds for closings.

The Cook County Senior Exemption forms are now out. If you or someone you know is a senior with their primary residence in Cook County, be sure they file for the senior exemption.
