As students across Arkansas prepare to head back to school, our team at Keith Law Group wants to help families prioritize safety on the way there. No matter how your child gets to school, a quick review of these basics can go a long way.
Walking to school:
• Use sidewalks when available
• Cross only at designated crosswalks
• Make eye contact with drivers before entering the street
• Walk with others when possible
Riding a bike:
• Always wear a properly fitted helmet
• Ride on the right side of the road with traffic
• Stop completely before crossing streets
• Choose routes with fewer intersections and lighter traffic
Taking the bus:
• Stand several feet back from the curb while waiting
• Wait for the bus to stop fully before boarding
• Never cross in front of or behind a bus without clear communication with the driver
Getting dropped off:
• Follow posted school zone speed limits
• Use the school’s designated drop-off procedures
• Never pass a bus that is loading or unloading children
Teen drivers:
• Ensure everyone wears a seatbelt
• Put phones and devices away
• Follow the speed limit and drive distraction-free
We hope these reminders support a safe transition back to school for your family. If you ever have questions about safety or need guidance after an accident, our team is here to help.
