January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. As it comes to an end, we invite our community to move beyond awareness and commit to prevention as a shared responsibility.

Human trafficking often happens in plain sight, shaped by isolation, unmet needs, and lack of access to support. What we do not see can still cause harm. Prevention is not about fear. It is about connection, dignity, and making sure people are seen and supported.

At AID, we work to prevent trafficking by strengthening safety nets, walking alongside survivors, and addressing the conditions that make exploitation possible. Human trafficking survivors who become our clients may be eligible for low-cost or pro bono legal services, because access to legal support is part of safety and long-term stability.

Enero es el Mes Nacional de Prevención de la Trata de Personas. Al llegar al final del mes, invitamos a nuestra comunidad a ir más allá de la concientización y a comprometerse con la prevención como una responsabilidad compartida.

La trata de personas a menudo ocurre a simple vista y está marcada por el aislamiento, las necesidades no cubiertas y la falta de acceso a apoyo. Lo que no vemos también puede causar daño. La prevención no se basa en el miedo. Se basa en la conexión, la dignidad y en asegurar que las personas sean vistas y apoyadas.

En AID, trabajamos para prevenir la trata fortaleciendo redes de apoyo, acompañando a sobrevivientes y abordando las condiciones que hacen posible la explotación. Las personas sobrevivientes de trata de personas que se convierten en clientes de AID pueden ser elegibles para servicios legales de bajo costo o pro bono, porque el acceso al apoyo legal es parte de la seguridad y la estabilidad a largo plazo.
