A principal of the firm, Ryan Lee was born and raised in Rockwall. After graduating from Rockwall High School, he moved to San Diego, California, where he attended and graduated from San Diego State University. Ryan earned his law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2009. He began practicing in Rockwall that same year and took a brief break from practice in 2013 to serve as General Counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee for the Texas Senate. Ryan was selected as a Rising Star by the Texas Super Lawyers five consecutive times ending in 2020. The Rising Stars list recognizes no more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in each state. To be eligible for inclusion in Rising Stars, a candidate must be either 40 years old or younger, or in practice for 10 years or less. In 2021, after his age and years of practice made him no longer able to be a Rising Star, Ryan was named a Texas Super Lawyer. In addition to his private personal injury and criminal defense practice, Ryan also currently serves as the Rockwall Municipal Court’s Associate Judge. He is a graduate of the Keenan Trial College and is a Fellow of the State Bar College which requires its members to complete double the amount of continuing legal education required by the State Bar of Texas. Fireworks can make any celebration feel special, but they also bring real risks that many people don’t expect. Whether you’re attending a public show in Rockwall or setting off a few at home, it’s important to stay aware of common injuries that can happen when things go wrong.

Burns are one of the most frequent injuries, especially to hands and arms — even sparklers burn hot enough to cause serious harm. Eye injuries are also a major concern when people get too close to the action. In some cases, fireworks can lead to lacerations, hearing damage, or breathing issues from smoke exposure. And when larger aerial fireworks malfunction, the injuries can be severe and life‑altering.

Awareness helps, but it can’t prevent every incident. If you or someone you care about is hurt by a malfunctioning firework or another person’s negligence, our team at Smith and Lee Injury Lawyers is here to help you understand your legal options.
