Make a Difference One Child at a Time: Free Attorney ad Litem Training set for April 22, 2022

Do you ever ponder about expanding your legal skills and learning about new areas of the law? Do you also think about the most vulnerable population of our community and how you can help a child’s future? If you answered yes to these questions, this training is for you!

We have an exciting day planned for you that will result in your knowledge and competence to make a difference in a child’s life by serving as an Attorney ad Litem. Please join us on Friday, April 22, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. where you will hear from experienced attorneys, judges, and community providers, and even a panel of youth that have been through the dependency court process. You will also earn valuable CLE credits for your attendance.

The training is FREE and includes a light breakfast, lunch, and a happy hour to follow. So, what’s the catch? The only requirement is that after you complete the training you accept an appointment as an Attorney ad Litem for a child in a dependency case. We promise that you will have many resources and assistance if needed and this will be one of the most rewarding experiences in your legal career.
This training is being sponsored by the Brevard County Bar Association, Brevard Family Partnership, and others as well. It will be held at the Holiday Inn Cocoa/Space Coast Convention Center at I-95 and Highway 520.

Congratulations to Legal Aid attorney Valeta Cameron for her well-deserved recognition as a winner of the prestigious 4 under 40 Leadership Award! The 4 Under 40 Recognition showcases the next generation of leadership under the age of 40, "who are making a positive impact in Brevard County through their commitment to community and their profession." Recipients were selected by a group of independent community leaders based on the following criteria: a demonstrated excellence, creativity and initiative in their business or profession; providing a valuable service by contributing time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community; clearly serving as a role model for others personally and professionally; are under the age of 40 on Jan. 1, 2019 while living or working in Brevard County and showcasing a commitment to his/her personal/professional development. The group was selected from a large pool of nominees representing a cross-section of young professionals working in Brevard's businesses, public, and nonprofit sectors. All finalists will be featured during the event on Friday, February 8th and four winners will be revealed.
