If you are served with a temporary injunction, DO NOT wait to contact an attorney! Injunctions have a very short timeline, and your hearing is essentially an entire trial. Your attorney will need as much time as possible to prepare your case properly.

If an injunction has been filed against you, if you need to file for one against someone else, or you have questions about injunctions, I can help. Call, text, or email!

I'm proud to share that I am now a member of the Central Florida Collaborative Divorce group!

In collaborative divorce, clients voluntarily resolve all issues out of court: dissolving their marriage, dividing property, providing for their family’s financial support, and agreeing on children's issues like timesharing and parental responsibility. A specially-trained professional team helps the couple understand what matters most to them and create solutions that will work for the whole family.

Divorce is not the only kind of case that can be handled collaboratively. Call (321) 604-0619 or email [email protected] to learn more!

On today’s episode of Did You Know:

•Equal timesharing doesn’t necessarily mean zero child support.

•Expenses like rent, groceries, car payments, utilities, etc. have virtually no impact on the amount of child support in a given case.

•Child support amounts are set by the Florida Statutes. There are specific guidelines that give a minimum amount for the number of children and the parents’ combined incomes.

•If a parent and/or the child(ren) receive public assistance, the state department of revenue can go after the other parent for child support, even if the receiving parent doesn’t ask for it.

Paternity and child support issues can be complicated and difficult to navigate on your own. If you have questions about child support or your rights as a parent, speak with a family law attorney today.

Thinking of quitting your job to avoid paying child support and/or alimony? THINK AGAIN!

The Florida Statutes provide avenues to impute income to a party who is voluntarily unemployed or underemployed. Navigating the family courts can be difficult and frustrating. You need someone on your side to help you understand your rights.

Parenting applications like Talking Parents and Our Family Wizard are an excellent way for parents to communicate about their children, share calendars, keep track of appointments, schedules, and send messages and/or payments to one another. Courts like them because the messages are not able to be edited or deleted by either party, removing the possibility for missing context or cherry-picking messages. This keeps both parents accountable and helps them transition to an amicable co-parenting relationship.

Check out TalkingParents and OurFamilyWizard and see if a parenting application may help you better communicate with your co-parent.

Today's productive 9-hour family mediation session was a positive step towards a peaceful resolution. Mediation is preferable and more cost-effective (and less stressful!) than trial - it enables parties to determine their own outcome and encourages collaboration.
