On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, Laurie A. Vahey, Esq., Managing Member of Vahey Law Offices, PLLC, presented on "Advanced Evidence: Strategic Advocacy in New York Practice" to attorneys throughout New York State.

For more than a decade, Laurie has taught and presented on evidentiary issues affecting trial and motion practice, helping attorneys move beyond simply knowing the rules to using evidence strategically. The program will focus on advanced foundations, admissibility pitfalls, business records, digital evidence, AI and deepfakes, metadata, and the strategic use of objections.

A seasoned trial lawyer, Laurie has taken numerous cases to verdict and decision and previously served as faculty for the New York State Bar Association's Trial Academy. She remains committed to sharing practical litigation skills with fellow attorneys and advancing excellence in advocacy throughout the profession.

There is a new amendment to the Administrative Rules of the Unified Court System concerning AI use by attorneys. Use of AI is not prohibited, nor must such use be disclosed by an attorney, but a court may adopt its own AI use rule. A model rule was suggested and can be found here:

Major changes to New York auto accident law are here — and they could significantly impact the rights of injured crash victims.

The new legislation amendments include changes to NY's Insurance Law 5102 and CPLR 1411 providing:
⚖️ Elimination of the 90/180-day serious injury category
⚖️ New limits on recovery where a plaintiff is found primarily at fault
⚖️ Restrictions on damages involving uninsured or intoxicated drivers
⚖️ Immediate implementation upon enactment

These changes may make it harder to recover compensation for pain and suffering after a motor vehicle accident.

Also, these reforms may also substantially change how motor vehicle accident cases are evaluated, litigated, and resolved in New York.
