In Memory & Honor of MIKEY Johnson who we know and call Mikey Campbell.

We lost a leader, a soldier, a revolutionary and a paradigm. Mikey Johnson was bold and creative and force toward progress in the black community.

After the killing of George Floyd, Mikey rose to prominence and proved to be one of the premier activism in this city with his organization SAVE ROCHESTER.

Mikey founded Save Rochester to address issues with policing, poverty, education and food apartheid.

Mikey is a comrade in this revolutionary activism we have devoted ourselves to. In the formation of Community Justice Initiative, Mikey was one of our primary architects of post George Floyd activism who help build protests, media campaigns, free food giveaways, Juneteenth events and other game changing endeavors in Rochester, NY. Mikey even brought a Black Easter Bunny for the youth to see and enjoy.Mikey was truly brilliant.

Mikey was a rare gem in a world of those who allow and accept status quo. He was a man of Good was very caring for all those he encountered.

Mikey was a creative and peerless activist. He never waited for approval and tactfully knew how to make a statement. This was his superpower. He had secret recipe for getting in "good trouble." He was a lighting rod. A brother that cared about black folks like Frederick Douglass and his consistent efforts proved that.

Mikey is now an ancestor who sits with Austin Steward, Connie Mitchell, Mildred Johnson, Frederick Douglass, Franklin Florence and others who tirelessly and fearlessly fought for a better black rochester without waiting for and seeking approval.

Remembering Mikey will be mandatory as we now rest on the shoulders of his uplift activism.
