LEGAL TIP TUESDAY | Bike Safety

June is National Safety Month and whether you're cruising the boardwalk in Virginia Beach, riding through Roanoke's scenic trails, or exploring the Eastern Shore, knowing your rights AND your responsibilities on the road can save your life AND protect you legally.

Here's what every cyclist in Virginia needs to know:
✅ Cyclists have the same rights and duties as motor vehicle drivers under Virginia law
✅ Always ride as far right as safely possible
✅ Helmets are required for riders under 15
✅ Use front white lights & rear red reflectors when riding at night
✅ Never ride under the influence and yes, it applies to bikes too!
✅ If you're hit by a vehicle, document everything and contact an attorney immediately

Drivers, give cyclists at least 3 feet of space when passing. It's the law in Virginia!

Passionate about: Helping others, traveling and continuous improvement at everything I do.

Favorite restaurant: Eurasia
Favorite beach: in Virginia, Sandbridge, but my favorite beach in the country is Sanibel Island in Florida
Favorite hobby: reading and writing
Favorite pet: my Westie, Rigsby
Favorite food: Almond layer cake with buttercream frosting and I won't say "no" to a burger and fries

Who/what inspired you to choose this career? After nearly my entire career in media buying and sales, I was excited to have a direct impact in helping a business grow. I can also use my knowledge and experience to optimize media placement and strategy.

Fun fact? I'm a Disney adult! I try to visit Disney World a couple of times a year, it is truly my happy place! I am also married to my high school sweetheart, and we have two hilarious and handsome sons.
