Less than 24 hours from now, my son will turn 18. That means that, legally, I'll automatically be cut off from helping him if he needs my help. Luckily for him, his dad is an estate planning lawyer and will have the 4 documents he needs to sign ready so that I won't lose my ability to help him in an emergency. KEEP READING...šŸ”½

Has your 18-year-old signed these documents already? Do you need to get this done before they head to college?

This is a reminder that this Saturday, Aug 8, from 7:30-9:00 PM, Longhorn Legacy Planning will be hosting "Popsicles & Planning." Your entire family can come to enjoy a night in the pool with free popsicles. Parents and the new 18-year-olds will enjoy a brief presentation with me to go over Longhorn Legacy Planning's ADULTING 101 package - the package that has the 4 documents every 18-year-old needs to make sure that mom and dad can help them out in an emergency.

If you can make it this Saturday evening, please register using this link: https://app.lawmatics.com/.../169bcb97-8fae-4065-91d7...
Registering will help us make sure we have enough popsicles on hand!

If you CAN'T make it this Saturday, but still want to learn more and get these important documents in place before move-in day, then click here: https://app.lawmatics.com/.../5a9071c6-747b-4e47-807d...

Hey y’all. IT’S ON! Read on…

Today, my soon-to-be 18-year-old took his two younger brothers out to the outlet stores to do some back-to-school clothes shopping. He’s getting in some brother hang out time, while I was home working…

On this…

Way more of you said you were interested in hearing more about how parents can keep the right to help their 18-year-olds in an emergency than I thought. I’m so excited for y’all to hear this.

So we’re moving forward with our Popsicles & Planning event. Let’s get the details down!

When: Saturday, Aug 8 from 7:30 pm until 9:00 pm

Where: Roanoke Community Pool

Who: parents of 18-year-olds or soon-to-be 18-year-olds, the 18-year-olds, and their families

What: come enjoy a night in the pool, eating some popsicles, and listening to a brief presentation by me about this crucial planning step…

And, if you want to walk away with the documents in hand, notarized and ready to use, make sure your 18-year-old comes with y’all, because Longhorn Legacy Planning will be ready to do all the documents on site.

Register here: https://app.lawmatics.com/forms/share/169bcb97-8fae-4065-91d7-8dff91c50acd

If you can’t make this event, please message me directly and we’ll set up a time to discuss your needs.

Can’t wait to see y’all at the pool!

Hey y’all. I need your help. Please keep reading below…

Right now, I’m getting my soon-to-be 18-year-old ready to go to college. As an estate planning attorney at Longhorn Legacy Planning, I know what’s around the corner for him and what documents I know he’ll need to sign to make sure that my wife and I can help him if an emergency hits as he goes off on his own.

But too many parents that have 18-year-olds or soon-to-be 18-year-olds don’t know.

And they’ll find out too late.

So I am thinking about doing the following:
- renting out the Roanoke Community pool
- providing popsicles
- inviting families that have a new 18-year-old or soon-to-be 18-year-old to attend for free, with their whole families
- let them enjoy a night free fun in a great pool (with a fun water slide)
- have a 15-minute conversation with parents about these important documents; &
- answer any questions

I think this would be a great evening and very informative, but before I pull the trigger…

I want to know…

If you are the parents of a new 18-year-old or a soon-to-be 18-year-old, would you attend an event like this?

If so, comment INTERESTED on this post.

If I have enough INTERESTED families, I’ll get this set up ASAP (like next week).

Because college is right around the corner. And the clock is ticking.

If you see this, I’d also appreciate you reposting this on your feed if you have friends who have a new 18-year-old or a soon-to-be 18-year-old so they can attend to.

This is important and I’d love to spread the word as far as I can.

The first day of college is right around the corner. šŸ““šŸ˜¢

If your kid needs help, do you have the documents ready to legally allow you to provide help?

Or are you going to be locked out šŸ” from helping your kid in a crisis?

Let’s get it done together.

This 4th of July, as we celebrate national freedom, take a moment to look at your own.

If you don't have a custom estate plan, the government already has a default blueprint for your assets, your healthcare, and your minor children.

A comprehensive trust puts you in total control. It keeps your private life out of public probate court and ensures your choices are honored. Declare your family's personal independence this week.

As my oldest son gets ready to graduate from high school, I'm talking with my friends who also have seniors graduating from high school. And I'm already hearing horror stories about parents not being able to schedule doctors' visits for their newly turned 18-year-old kids.

While this isn't an emergency, imagine being in a situation where something does happen to your kiddo while they're at college, and the first time you find out that you aren't allowed to discuss their situation, their care, or that you can't do anything for them is in the hospital emergency room.

Would you like to know how your newly turned 18-year-old can stop this from happening? How they can give you legal authority to be there for them in an emergency?

And would you like to have that peace of mind for less money than you think?

Then give me a call right now at (817) 455-0738 so we can get the plan in place and give you peace of mind quickly!
