DUI, Consensual s*x with minor, drug possession, theft of a firearm, possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, distributing of drugs… these are all crimes I’ve defended that resulted in a sentence GREATER than this cop who killed a man for trying to run. I love the Police, but if they “take it all” by killing someone, they deserve more than 16 months.

Kim Potter, the former Minnesota police officer who mistakenly drew a gun instead of a Taser and fatally shot Daunte Wright, was sentenced to 2 years in prison on Friday, nearly two months after she was convicted of first- and second-degree manslaughter.

I’m not a civil attorney, but my guess is if the jails refuse to bring Defendants to their criminal hearings, and refuse to allow them access to courts via video, there will be lawsuits galore. Furthermore, if I was sitting on a jury where a person was deprived of liberty for one day as a result of these “policies”, I would award graciously. Call me if this has happened to you, I know the some people that could help.

Today Roanoke County DSS and I were able to restore the parental rights of a parent who had previously had them terminated. A young man will be going home to his mother for the first time in a long time. Fingers crossed this works out well.
