Woods Rogers celebrates and honors Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19, as the anniversary of the last group of Black enslaved people in the United States learning that they were emancipated. We honor this day as both a historic milestone and a moment to reflect on the progress our nation has made. This day also reminds us of the importance of learning history and the work still needed in the United States’ continued struggle with racial equality. Woods Rogers celebrates Pride Month (June 1 to June 30), recognizing the important courageous work of the LGBTQ+ (le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, and q***r) community in advocating for equality for LGBTQ+ individuals.

Pride Month began in 1970 as a way for the LGBT community to advocate for equal justice and equal rights. While Pride Month honors the past struggles of the LGBTQ+ community in combatting hate and discrimination, it is also an important time to recognize the need for continued work in combatting the persistent and dangerous prejudices that the LGBTQ+ community still faces. Additionally, Pride Month is significant to LGBTQ+ individuals as it is an intentional opportunity to share solidarity and celebrate self-affirmation. We join our friends in the LGBTQ+ community in appreciating the ongoing struggle for equality and affirming the inherent dignity of all individuals.
