Time is drawing near for kids to go back to school. It is also time for a reminder that parents who have children that are now 18 years old or older, and are heading off to college, that they are now legal adults and Constitutionally, have the right to make their own medical decisions and a right to privacy. If you are a concerned parent, like I am, make sure that your adult child has executed advance directives (Durable Power of Attorney, Health Care Surrogate and Living Will), so you will not have any issues with handling their affairs or making decisions for them if the need arises.
