Congratulations to all the new college graduates! 🎓✨

Today is more than a celebration of a degree — it is the beginning of your real-world journey. Remember, success is not always about having the perfect plan. Sometimes it’s about showing up, staying consistent, being willing to learn, and having the courage to pivot when life changes direction.

As someone who has experienced corporate success, entrepreneurship, setbacks, and reinvention, I can tell you this: your career path may not look exactly how you imagined it — and that’s okay. Some of your greatest opportunities will come from moments you never planned for.

Do not be afraid to start small.
Do not be afraid to fail.
Do not be afraid to outgrow people, places, or situations that no longer fit your purpose.

Invest in your knowledge.
Protect your reputation.
Learn financial literacy early.
And most importantly — build a life that gives you peace, not just a paycheck.

The degree opened the door.
Your discipline, character, and mindset will determine how far you go.

Congratulations Class of 2026! The world is waiting for your greatness.

Choosing the right professional can save you time, money, and stress. Here are the Top 3 things I believe you should look for before hiring anyone for your business or financial needs:

✅ 1. EXPERIENCE THAT MATTERS
Not all experience is equal. Look for someone who has real-world knowledge, years in the industry, and experience handling situations similar to yours. Credentials are important, but application matters even more.

✅ 2. COMMUNICATION & AVAILABILITY
A true professional doesn’t disappear after payment is made. You should feel comfortable asking questions and receiving clear explanations—not confusing answers or delayed responses for weeks.

✅ 3. REPUTATION & TRUST
Research reviews, referrals, and consistency. A professional’s reputation tells a story before you even meet them. Integrity, transparency, and professionalism should always come first.

Bonus Tip from Tracie Lowe, CPA:
Don’t choose solely based on price. The cheapest option can sometimes become the most expensive mistake later.

Learn something new every day.

**Answer from the CPA 💼**

**What is a Tax Resolution Specialist?**

A **Tax Resolution Specialist** is a professional who steps in when your tax situation has gone beyond basic filing… and into **problems that need solutions.**

This isn’t just about preparing a return—this is about **fixing, negotiating, and protecting.**

Here’s what that really means:

✔️ **Negotiates with the IRS on your behalf**
✔️ **Resolves back tax balances strategically** (not just payment plans)
✔️ **Stops collections like wage garnishments, levies, and liens**
✔️ **Represents you during audits and disputes**
✔️ **Finds the best legal resolution**—often reducing what you owe

💡 **CPA Insight:**
A true tax resolution specialist doesn’t just “file paperwork.”
They **analyze your full financial picture** and position your case for the **best possible outcome under IRS rules.**

This is where experience matters.

Because the difference between a preparer and a specialist is simple:
👉 One reports the problem
👉 The other **solves it**

🚨 Missed the Tax Deadline… Now What?
Answers From Tracie Lowe, CPA

So April 15th came and went… and you didn’t file. Now what? First—don’t panic. This happens more often than you think, and there are still smart steps you can take right now.

If you missed the deadline, the most important thing you can do is FILE YOUR RETURN ASAP. Even if you cannot pay the balance, filing reduces one of the biggest penalties. The IRS charges a higher penalty for not filing than for not paying—so getting that return submitted is your first win.

Next, if you owe, don’t ignore it. The balance will continue to grow with penalties and interest, but there are options. You may qualify for payment plans, temporary holds, or even reductions based on your situation. The key is to take action early before the IRS takes action on you.

And here’s the truth most people don’t realize—waiting only limits your options. The sooner you address it, the more control you keep over the outcome.

🎯 Answers From the CPA:
Hobby Losses (Simplified Version!)

Let’s keep this easy 👇

You love doing something… like baking 🎂, photography 📸, or making shirts 👕
And you make a little money from it.

Sounds like a business… but the Internal Revenue Service may say it’s just a hobby.

💡 Here’s the deal:

If you’re not really making a profit, the IRS CAN say:

👉 “This is a hobby.”

❌ Why that matters:

If it’s a hobby:

✔ You STILL report the money you make
❌ But you CANNOT write off your expenses

So if you made $1,000
But spent $1,500…

👉 You still pay taxes on the $1,000 😳

✅ Want to be treated like a business? If you read between the lines you have three years to claim business losses!!

You need to:

✔ Try to make money
✔ Keep good records
✔ Act like a real business
✔ Show profit in at least 3 out of 5 years

💬 CPA Tip from Tracie Lowe:

Don’t let your “business” get labeled as a hobby…but use this rule to your advantage. 👉 That mistake costs people money EVERY year.

Here are the Top 5 Items to Bring to Your CPA Appointment for Taxes:

1. All Income Documents
Bring every form that shows income earned during the year—W-2s, 1099s, business income records, rental income, retirement distributions, and any side income. If it paid you, bring it.

2. Deduction & Expense Records
Include receipts, mileage logs, home office expenses, childcare costs, medical expenses (if applicable), and any business-related purchases. Proper documentation helps ensure you don’t miss valuable deductions.

3. Prior Year Tax Return
Your previous tax return helps your CPA track carryovers, credits, filing status, and ensures consistency year to year.

4. Identification & Family Documentation
Bring a valid federal ID (driver’s license or state ID) and Social Security cards for yourself, spouse, and dependents. For minors, also include birth certificates to verify dependent information.

5. Court or Custody Documents (If Applicable)
If there are shared custody arrangements or legal agreements, bring any court orders or custody documentation. This helps determine who can legally claim dependents and ensures proper filing compliance.

Being prepared helps your CPA work more efficiently and helps you avoid delays, corrections, or missed opportunities.

A dormant trust can completely destroy the reason you created it.

If no one is watching the accounts or knows where the documents are, the assets inside the trust may eventually be turned over to the state as unclaimed property. When that happens, your full intent to transfer those assets to your loved ones through the trust can be lost, delayed, and become much more expensive to recover.

3 things every family should do today:

✔️ Make sure the trustee has the signed trust documents and knows where they are stored.

✔️ Monitor the trust bank and investment accounts regularly so they do not become dormant.

✔️ Name an alternate trustee in case the first trustee cannot serve.

You worked too hard to build your assets. Don’t let a dormant trust leave your family fighting the state to recover what was meant for them.

On March 23, 2023, I was released after 20 years of service as a Controller of a multi-million international company—earning a salary that never was an industry standard.

At the time, it felt like a tragedy.

But looking back… it was the greatest redirection of my life.

That moment didn’t break me—it **freed me**.

It launched me into independence, stretched my faith, and unlocked a level of purpose I could have never reached staying comfortable. I went from security to uncertainty… but also from limitation to **unlimited potential**.

Today, I use my skills, my experience, and my testimony to help others navigate some of their most overwhelming financial situations.

What once felt like loss… became my **launch**.

If you’re in a season where things feel uncertain, trust that sometimes what feels like an ending is really God making room for something greater.

✨ **Refund Settlement Story – Handled with Care & Confidentiality** ✨

Family situations can be complicated… and sometimes unexpected.

In this case for stock options for $3,000, an uncle chose to name his niece as his beneficiary—not his children. And guess what?

👉 It doesn’t matter who *thinks* they should receive it
👉 It doesn’t matter who *assumes* they’re entitled

What matters is what’s legally documented and verified.

At Refund CPA, we stepped in quietly, professionally, and respectfully…
📑 Completed the necessary paperwork
📬 Processed the refund settlement
🔒 Protected the client’s privacy every step of the way

Because the truth is…

💼 **Not everyone needs to know the details**
🛡️ **But everything must be done the right way**

That’s where we come in.

If you receive a notice from us, just know— we’ve already done the research and groundwork for you.
