Calling all aspiring women entrepreneurs! United Way of South Texas’ Latina Hope Program is offering FREE small business start-up education sessions for women in Starr County who are considering opening a new business or have had a business open for less than two years.🚨 Applications are due September 18.

Participants will learn about budgeting, marketing and digital literacy, business plan preparation, dressing for success, and more. Selected participants may also be eligible for a stipend.

For more information or to request an application, contact Delia Perez at 956-785-9572 or stop by our office on the 1st floor of the Starr County Texas courthouse.

The Starr County Attorney’s Office was honored to participate in the San Isidro Independent School District Back-to-School Bash and help distribute school supplies to students and families as they prepare for the new school year.

Starr County was proud to be represented at the United Way of South Texas Back-to-School Shopping Spree, where local officials and volunteers helped make the day special for students from across the Rio Grande Valley.

Starr County Leaders Participated in the United Way Back-to-School Shopping Spree
Starr County leaders proudly participated in the annual United Way Back-to-School Shopping Spree, held on August 5, 2026, at Target in McAllen, Texas.
A total of 175 students from school districts throughout the Rio Grande Valley were selected by their school administrators to participate in this special event. Each student received an allowance to shop for back-to-school clothing, shoes, hygiene products, accessories, and other essential items needed for a successful school year.
Volunteers were paired with each student to assist them throughout their shopping experience, helping them select items that best met their individual needs while making the day both enjoyable and memorable.
In addition to shopping for school essentials, every student received a backpack filled with school supplies to help ensure they are well-prepared as they begin the new school year.
This meaningful initiative is made possible through the generous contributions and continued support of the United Way of South Texas dedicated members and partners, volunteers, and community
