Seeger Weiss is reviewing cases nationwide for women who used hair relaxer or straightening products and were later diagnosed with uterine cancer or another hormone-related cancer.

A National Institutes of Health study found that women who frequently used hair straightening and relaxer products face more than double the risk of uterine cancer compared to non-users, a risk researchers say may disproportionately affect Black and Hispanic women due to higher rates of use.

The federal litigation, now with 11,779 cases pending, is moving toward its first trials.

Founding Partner Christopher Seeger, who served as Plaintiffs' Lead Negotiation Counsel, helped secure an uncapped minimum settlement of $5.8 billion with Johnson & Johnson, for approximately 70,000 plaintiffs who alleged that talcum powder products manufactured by the company caused ovarian and other cancers after more than a decade of litigation.

The settlement, reached with the support of the Plaintiffs' Executive and Steering Committees, compensates claimants through a transparent, tiered grid system.

Meet Partner Steven Daroci. Steve joined Seeger Weiss in 2022 and was promoted to partner in 2024. His practice focuses on product liability, complex commercial litigation, and drug injury.

This year, Steve has been a key member of the team that negotiated the proposed $7.25 billion settlement for thousands of individuals across the United States who were exposed to Roundup products and were diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Seeger Weiss has filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of the State of New York and is continuing to investigate claims that the online gambling app, Stake, allowed underage users to sign up and gamble due to potentially inadequate age verification, which puts them at risk of addiction and financial loss.

The lawsuit alleges that Stake .com, one of the world's largest offshore online casinos with $4.7 billion in gross gaming revenue in 2024, recruited a New York boy into illegal gambling at age 12 through paid livestream influencers and used cryptocurrency to facilitate the transfer of funds that fueled his addiction for years.

Seeger Weiss was appointed as a member of the Interim Plaintiffs' Steering Committee in In re Garden Grove Chemical Plant Evacuation, a litigation alleging that a May 2026 chemical leak at GKN Aerospace's Garden Grove manufacturing plant resulted in forced evacuations, which affected 50,000 local residents and businesses. Seeger Weiss Founding Partners Christopher A. Seeger and Stephen A. Weiss are leading the firm's efforts in this case.
