Last week, Satterwhite Taddeo had the honor of celebrating the upcoming retirement of our founding shareholder, partner, mentor, and friend - Kimberly Satterwhite. Her vision, leadership, and dedication helped shape this firm from its very beginning.

Kim was joined by an extraordinary group of people who have been part of her professional and personal journey—past colleagues, current and former employees, opposing counsel, clients, and of course, family and friends who have supported her every step of the way. The room was a powerful reminder of the impact one lawyer can have across an entire legal community.

Over the course of an exemplary career defending health care providers, Kim built a reputation as a formidable advocate, a strategic thinker, and a lawyer whose preparation and presence in the courtroom set the standard. Just as importantly, she has been a generous mentor, a trusted colleague, and a steady leader whose commitment to excellence elevated all of us around her.

While Kim’s daily presence will be deeply missed, her influence is permanent. Satterwhite Taddeo will proudly carry on her legacy through the skills she taught, the standards she set, and the values she instilled in all of us. We are profoundly grateful for her contributions, her friendship, and the example she leaves behind. We wish her the very best in this well-earned next chapter.

After four days of testimony during trial in Richmond, Virginia, Kimberly Satterwhite and Miranda James successfully secured a dismissal of the Plaintiff’s case through a motion to strike at the close of the Plaintiff’s case-in-chief.

Satterwhite Taddeo is excited to welcome Ashley Middlebrook to our team of skilled litigation professionals! With over a decade of experience in the legal field, Ashley brings an impressive background as a paralegal, holding Associate of Applied Science Degrees in both General Practice and Litigation Practice from J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, both ABA-approved programs.

Before joining us, Ashley spent the majority of her paralegal career in Civil Litigation Defense, with a recent shift to Workers' Compensation work. However, she quickly realized her passion lies in the fast-paced world of civil litigation and is thrilled to return to this field, specifically focusing on defending medical malpractice claims for our clients.

Born in Richmond, raised in Chesterfield, and now rooted in (sweet) Caroline County, Ashley is married to her high school sweetheart. Together, they have a teenage son and two fur-babies that keep them busy. Outside of work, Ashley loves spending time with her family, going on adventures in their travel trailer, enjoying beach therapy, and crafting.

We are thrilled to have her on board and look forward to the amazing contributions she will make to our team. Welcome, Ashley!

❓ How long have you been with the ALA? ☑️ 3 years!

❓ Why do you choose to volunteer and serve on the Board? ☑ I chose to serve on the Board as a means to force myself out of my comfort zone (I'm a bit of an introvert), take on a new challenge, and grow my network by meeting more people within ALA. It's been fun learning the ropes, working with the other board members, and becoming more active within the organization.

❓ Your favorite ALA event for meeting to date? ☑ Vendor Catering Event, BP Speed Dating and Morning Coffees.☕

❓ If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be and why? ☑ Eliza Hamilton - I became fascinated with her after seeing Hamilton. She lived such a long life after he died and worked tirelessly to defend him and publish his papers. I would love to hear more about her life after the infamous duel.

❓ Anything else you would like to share? ☑ For me, ALA has been a great way to connect with other professionals in the industry and gain insight into how others are improving the efficiency in their firms. When I attended my first morning coffee, I found answers to questions my firm was facing. I have also enjoyed getting to know our Business Partners and have been pleasantly surprised when some were able to offer unexpected cost savings.
