If someone purchases a $400,000 home today, they could see nearly $40,000 in equity growth by 2030, based solely on projected price appreciation. That's according to the Home Price Expectations Survey, which surveys more than 100 economists and housing analysts each quarter.

The market isn't booming, but it is moving. And buyers who wait for a crash that experts aren't forecasting could end up paying more for the same home five years from now.
