Yesterday, our team had the privilege of standing beside Shannon, a paternal grandmother who has spent nearly eight years fighting fearlessly for what she believes is best for her grandson and family. Social services and the courts have been involved in her grandson's life for years, and tragically, both of his parents passed away while he was still very young. Through unimaginable loss and years of uncertainty, Shannon has remained steadfast in one belief: her grandson deserves stability, safety, and connection to his biological family and all those that he trusts. She obtained sole custody at last.
Custody cases are rarely won in a single day. They are built, sometimes over years, through careful strategy, multiple hearings, experts, and court orders that may feel like losses in the moment but ultimately become stepping stones. What no one sees is what happens between the court dates: the sleepless nights, the tears, the loneliness of being separated from a grandchild you love, and the strength it takes to keep going while trusting a process that can feel painfully slow.
Yesterday was a reminder that the work nobody sees matters. Every hearing, every difficult order, every piece of the record can become part of the foundation for what comes next. Our firm is honored to have walked alongside Shannon in this journey over the years and zealously advocate for her and her family.
