The worst real estate advice in Herndon sounds right until it costs you money.

I hear the same myths every week. From clients, from DMs, from people repeating something they read online without checking if it actually holds up.

Some of these are harmless. Others have cost people tens of thousands or set their plans back by months.

I'd rather be the agent who gives you the honest answer now than the one who stays quiet and lets you learn it the hard way.

Selling your home is one of the biggest financial decisions you'll ever make.

The agent you choose to trust with it should treat it exactly that way.

For me, that means approaching every listing in Herndon like it's my own home on the line — because that's how seriously I take this work. Real strategy, honest conversations, and genuine attention to detail from the first showing to the closing table.

Did you know your town is named after a shipwreck hero? 🌊

In 1857, a hurricane tore apart a ship called the SS Central America off the coast of Cape Hatteras. The captain — Commander William Lewis Herndon — had 575 people on board and 15 tons of California gold in the hull.

He gave his watch to a sailor with one instruction: deliver it to my wife. Then he stayed on deck and went down with his ship.

He saved 152 lives — mostly women and children.

A year later, a group of locals in a small Virginia village were voting on a name for their new post office. Legend has it that a survivor of that very shipwreck walked through the door that night and told the room what Commander Herndon had done.

They voted on the spot. And our town has carried his name ever since. 🏡

Next time you're walking the W&OD or grabbing a coffee downtown, you're doing it in a town named after one of the most selfless acts in American naval history.

That's Herndon. And it's one of the reasons I love calling this place home — and helping people find theirs here, too.

I've watched it happen more times than I can count.

A beautiful home, priced just slightly off, sits on the market for 25 days. Then buyers start circling like it's on the clearance rack. The conversation shifts from "what's this home worth?" to "what's wrong with it?"
