🌅 Tourists visit Seattle in June, it's gray and drizzly, and they go home thinking they understand our weather. They don't even know what they missed.

🔍 HOOK: There's a Pacific Northwest weather phenomenon that locals know about and almost no one else does. It happens every single year — right about now.

💡 HINT: It's not rain. It's not a storm. It's actually the complete opposite of what people expect from the PNW.

✅ REVEAL: We call it Second Summer. August and September are statistically the driest, sunniest months in all of Western Washington. While the rest of the country is dealing with humidity and heat storms, we get warm sunny days, cool nights, and some of the clearest skies of the year.

The locals who know, know. And we're not always in a rush to spread the word. 😉

This is genuinely one of the best times of year to be in the Pacific Northwest — and if you're here right now, you're living it.

Valspar just announced their 2027 Color of the Year and I am obsessed. Say hello to Cottage Door, a soft blue-gray that somehow feels grounding and dreamy at the same time.

It works as a wall color, a front door, even cabinets if you're feeling bold. And if you're thinking about listing in the next year, muted blues like this one are some of the safest, most broadly loved choices out there right now.

Ladies night done absolutely right. ✨🦞

A few weeks ago I went to dinner with the most incredible group of women before catching closing night of Hairspray at Tacoma Musical Theater — and on Ruston Way was everything.

We sat outside on Commencement Bay, Mt. Rainier in the distance, the water right there. They were so accommodating with our group — the kind of service that makes a special evening feel even more special.

The wedge salad? The best I have ever had. I mean it. And the lobster roll left me genuinely speechless.

If you haven't made the drive to Tacoma for this one — make it. Pair it with a show at Tacoma Musical Theater and you have yourself a perfect night. 🎭

🌊 It's August. The sun is out. You drive to the water, you dip your foot in — and it is FREEZING. Every single year.

🔍 HOOK: Puget Sound never really warms up, even in the middle of summer. And most people have no idea why.

💡 HINT: It has nothing to do with how much it rains here. It's about where the water is actually coming from.

✅ REVEAL: Puget Sound is a marine fjord — and it's constantly fed by deep, cold Pacific Ocean water flowing in through the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Even at peak summer, surface temps rarely break 55°F. That cold isn't going anywhere.

It's one of those things that makes the PNW genuinely unique — you can have a perfect 85° beach day and still lose feeling in your feet in about 30 seconds flat. 😂

That said — there's nowhere more beautiful to be on a summer day. The cold is just part of the deal out here.

This is the first Black woman-owned ice cream shop in Seattle and honestly one of the brightest, happiest small businesses in the Southend. The kind of place that just makes your day better.
