Clyde’s Story ♥️

Don’t ever take your dog’s vision for granted. My sweet Clyde, who is a Belgian Malinois was recently diagnosed with progressive retinal degeneration and optic nerve degeneration, both irreversible. These conditions are inherited, passed down through the parents. Responsible breeders should test for these genes, and if a puppy carries them, they should be neutered to prevent more heartbreak down the line.

If you love your dog, please have them tested and take them to a veterinary optometrist. Catching it early can help you prepare and adjust. Watching Clyde lose his confidence in spaces he once ran through with such joy has been so hard. I’m doing everything I can to help him feel safe and loved.

Treasure their eyes, their gaze, their wonder, while they can still see the world around them. 🐾💛
