Fall weekends are the best in the Roaring Fork Valley.

We always make it a point to get up to Redstone this time of year, so we packed up the car and took the beautiful drive on 133 to catch the weather and the fall colors.

We biked at Coal Basin and got to see Eli get air on his bike for the first time. Then it was pizza at Propaganda Pie, where of course we ran into friends from Carbondale, and ice cream from the General Store, where the new pumpkin flavor was a hit.

First day of kindergarten and second grade!

Meet Birdie!

The boys and Kelly have finally convinced Z that a puppy is essential in the Hoffman home.

Thank you to A Friend of Jack Rescue for helping dogs find their forever home! You did not just place a puppy. You added a member to the Hoffman family.

Birdie has found hers, and the boys have instantly fallen in love — starting with those BIG ears. She is one of 18 puppies — and she made it through parvo. That is not a small thing. Now she is home, underfoot, and already one of us!

Here is the part that is less cute and just as important: she is family now. And family belongs in the plan.

Hawaii was a blast!

Long hours on the beach, time with cousins, delicious poke, and so many sea turtles. Memories were made!

We were also there when Hurricane Lala came through. We were lucky to be on the part of the island that fared better, but flights shifted, plans changed, and it was a clear reminder of how fast a trip (and a life) can turn.

In the middle of that, we were grateful our estate planning documents were already in place. Not because we expected the worst. Because if something had gone sideways far from home, our people would not have had to guess who could make medical decisions, who could access accounts, or who would care for the kids.

What Mountain Fair is really about 🏔️

This past weekend at the 55th Mountain Fair, it wasn’t just the drum circle, the lemonade stands, the funk on the dance floor, the mangos on sticks, the bikes rolling through town, or the long-overdue catch-ups with neighbors that made it special.
It was the feeling of community that only happens when people come together.

A huge thank you to everyone who plans, volunteers, and works behind the scenes to make Mountain Fair possible year after year. Your hard work creates the space for these moments — kids laughing, friends dancing, families connecting, and neighbors becoming a little closer.
