We are heading to Not’Cho Grandma’s Bingo this Sunday, May 17th, at Silver Moon Brewing from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm, and we still have quite a few empty tables waiting to be filled. This event is a major fundraiser for CAMP and reaching a sell-out crowd is essential for us to move forward with our newest goal.

Each year, the support of our amazing donors allows us to provide between $35,000 and $45,000 in spay and neuter assistance for pet owners experiencing or at-risk of homelessness in our community. This work is a fundamental part of keeping families together and preventing pet overpopulation. To better sustain these efforts and increase our capacity, we are raising $30,000 to build out our very own spay and neuter suite. We are already halfway to this goal, and every dollar raised at bingo this Sunday goes directly toward the remaining funds needed to complete this space.

Having an in-house spay/neuter suite will change the way we provide care, and we need your help to get there. Please consider gathering some friends & family and reserving a table today via the link in our bio to help us fill the room and cross the finish line for this project.

Cutest Rhodie EVER!
This tiny 1-gallon 'Crete' Rhododendron is already blooming its sweet little head off!! When it's all grown up it will stand about 4' tall & wide. In Central Oregon Rhodies prefer quite a bit of shade (maybe a little morning sun, but they do not care for the harsh afternoon sun). They like consistently moist soil (so it is not a xeriscaping or drought tolerant plant) and acidic fertilizer. Supplemental winter watering and some protection from the harsh winter elements will help your rhodies thrive in Central Oregon. The tag on this one says it's a zone 6, but it is listed as a zone 5 plant on many sites as well.
Rabbit Trail Warning...
In 2023 the USDA changed the Bend/Redmond area to a zone 6b (Z6b is -5° to 0° F), but we try to stick with Z-5 (-20° to -10° F) plants for the most part. The USDA is right that temperatures are warmer, but they do not take into consideration our intense, early, and late frosts, dry winters or our soil - all things we deal with that can be harsh on plants, even dormant plants and evergreens.
Just FYI, the USDA has classified Lapine as a Z5a-6a, and if you live in south Deschutes County, you are laughing hard right now. ;o)
