Some of you may remember Claudio and the heartbreaking pleas from his family to bring him back. Claudio is a father, a husband, and a grandfather. He has lived in this country for nearly 30 years and did not even have so much as a traffic ticket.
ICE took him, and the experience broke him in many ways, but it did not break his spirit.
Today, Claudio has been reunited with his family.
In moments like this, we are reminded why we fight. We fight for families. We fight for dignity. We fight because no human being should be treated as disposable.
Nothing is impossible.

My client, Alex De La Torre Haro, was featured on KING 5 today, and I had the opportunity to speak about his case and what is happening to his family.
Alex was brought to the United States when he was two years old. He grew up here, built his life here, married a U.S. citizen, and has been actively pursuing lawful permanent residence through his wife.
Yet Alex is now sitting in ICE detention.
The people being swept into immigration detention are not always the dangerous criminals the public was told would be the priority. They are also people like Alex—husbands, sons, and members of our communities who are actively trying to navigate our immigration system through the legal process.
Alex deserves to be seen for who he actually is, not reduced to a label.
We are fighting to bring him home, and we are not done.

🏳️‍🌈 Today I spoke with KING 5 about my client, Ivan. He fled Russia after facing persecution because he is gay, hoping to find safety under the promise of freedom. Instead, he has spent more than two years in ICE detention while waiting for his asylum case to be reviewed. Everyone deserves the chance to live authentically and without fear. I hope Ivan’s story is not forgotten.

🚨 One family. One struggle. One example of how unjust immigration policies are hurting real people.

This family has been torn apart by policies that place politics above humanity. A husband, father, and provider is fighting to remain with his U.S. citizen wife and children while they face overwhelming emotional, financial, and medical hardships. No family should have to endure this.

And in other breaking news, a federal judge in Rhode Island has struck down another immigration policy that targeted immigrants based on their country of origin, finding that the government cannot arbitrarily discriminate against people who are lawfully seeking immigration benefits.

The courts continue to remind this administration of a simple principle: fairness, due process, and equal treatment under the law matter.

Racism never wins.

I was on King 5 News again. KING 5

I want to know why Immigration Judges are denying fee waivers in Immigration Court and claiming they have “no jurisdiction” to grant them, when the bill itself does not say that for certain forms.

People in detention cannot work. Many are the main providers for their families. Yet they are being told they must somehow come up with thousands of dollars in filing fees, or risk losing access to relief they may legally qualify for.

If Congress intended to eliminate fee waivers, then where is that language?

Because right now, it looks like people are being priced out of due process.
