Legally, they’re a stranger to you.

The second your child turns 18, you lose the automatic right to make medical decisions for them, access their school records, or even talk to their doctor in an emergency. Sending them off to college without a Healthcare Power of Attorney and HIPAA release isn’t old-fashioned caution.
