Thousands of immigrant truck drivers will lose their licenses.
A new Trump administration rule took effect banning asylum seekers, refugees, or recipients of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, from getting commercial driver’s licenses. Around 200,000 immigrant truck drivers will be able to keep their current CDL but will be ineligible for license renewal.

Shelter Information: Robert A. Wright Building will open as a shelter at 3:00pm on Saturday, January 23, 2026. Weapons are prohibited. Guests with animals will be accepted, however, animals will be housed at the County Animal Shelter. Animals which are ADA compliant will be allowed in the shelter.
