Lynne E. Clements

Lynne E. Clements, of Bergenfield, NJ, passed away peacefully while surrounded by friends and family on Saturday, February 17th. She was 78 years old.
Lynne is survived by Louis, her loving husband of 52 years; her sons Ryan and Glenn; and her four grandchildren: Emilia, Isla, Dorothy, and Harrison. She adored her family and spoke of her love for them at every opportunity.
Lynne was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 8th, 1945 to Gilles and Dorothy Fleming. Raised in Bergenfield, she and her identical twin sister, Dorothy Ann, led the 1962 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade as the Bergenfield High School Marching Band’s Drum Majorettes.
After graduating from Bradley University with a BA in Sociology, Lynne moved to Boston, where she worked as a computer programmer at Harvard University. She later earned a Masters Degree in Social Work from Fordham University. She went on to spend her career bringing aid and comfort to people through her private practice in Ridgewood, NJ, as well as various government and non-profit organizations.
In addition to her family and work, Lynne loved and took tremendous pride in giving back to the community. She formed The Bergenfield Arts Council in her hometown, was a founder of The Ridgewood Guild International Film Festival, and helped establish Women of Accomplishment. Lynne was also a member of many organizations, including the National Association of Social Workers - New Jersey Chapter, Zonta International, and she served as a Board Member of the Gifted Child Society for many years. Beyond her love of family and community, art, as represented in her multitude of activities and personal interests, brought her joy and was a passion of hers throughout her life.
A viewing at Riewerts Memorial Home in Bergenfield, NJ is scheduled for 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Friday, February 23. An Interment Service will be held on Saturday, February 24, at 10:30am at Garden of Memories in the Township of Washington, NJ. In lieu of flowers, any donations may be made to her memory by way of The Art Therapy Project (www.thearttherapyproject.org/donate), where a combination of her passions of art and therapy come to life and help others heal and live more meaningful and fulfilled lives.
