Honorable Eugene C. Tullos, Attorney at Law, born on this day, January 21st, in 1942, opened our law firm in Raleigh, Smith County, Mississippi in 1966.
In honor of his memory, we share this article (pictured) which was published in “The Smith County Reformer” on Thursday, August 25, 1966.
Eugene C. Tullos of Raleigh received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Mississippi Law School on the 21st of August.
Gene is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Holmes Tullos and the grandson of two former attorneys: the late R. S. "Bert" Tullos, who practiced law in Raleigh for 57 years, and Frank H. Harper, former state Senator from Hattiesburg who was the first legislator in the world to introduce a Homestead Exemption Act to a legislative body.
The 24-year-old Raleigh native is single, a Baptist and Mason. He graduated with honors from Raleigh High School and with Distinction from Mississippi College.
He was Mr. Jones Junior College in 1962 and lettered four years in varsity basketball.
At Ole Miss Gene was a mem ber of the Moot Court Board, th Social Committee, Phi Delta Phi Honorary Legal Fraternity and the International Law Society.
Mr. Tullos is a member of the Judge Advocate General's unit of the U.S. Army Reserves in Jackson, Mississippi. He plans to enter the general practice of law in Raleigh.
