PAUSE ON ADJUSTMENT AND ASYLUMS
On April 27th several colleagues reported in different cities that at the end of interviews for Adjustment of Status that the clients were advised that their cases would be "recommended for approval" but that there was a temporary hold at the moment. Some colleagues state that officers admitted that there was an internal memo to hold all cases and not approve them. I saw at least one report stating that it was motivated by the "assassination attempt" at the correspondents dinner.
In addition there are reports of the same issue with asylum cases.
I know many people are asking if this means that they wont get fingerprint notices or interviews. At this moment everything is proceeding as normal, except for the actual approval. For my own clients I am seeing that the I-130 is getting approved, but not the I-485.
I do hope that this is short term and that AILA and other advocacy groups work on challenging the measure in court if it is not lifted soon.
