This National Intern Day, we’re excited to introduce our summer intern, Kathryne “Kat” Golden!

Originally from Lexington, Kentucky, Kat earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Kentucky and recently completed her first year of law school at Wake Forest University. This summer, she looks forward to gaining hands-on experience in nursing home litigation and learning more about land condemnation matters.

Outside of her studies, she is passionate about animal rescue and enjoys spending time hiking. We're glad to have her join our team at Henson Fuerst, and look forward to seeing all she accomplishes this summer!

Congratulations to Henson Fuerst Partner Rachel Fuerst on being named to the North Carolina Legal 250 Elder Law category by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly.

The NC Legal 250 recognizes attorneys who have demonstrated legal success and the ability to navigate evolving client needs and legal developments.

Rachel has dedicated her practice to advocating for families whose loved ones have suffered abuse and neglect in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and group homes. Her commitment to protecting vulnerable adults has helped shape nursing home law in North Carolina, including her work in Vandevender v. Blue Ridge of Raleigh, the first published North Carolina nursing home case to uphold punitive damages following a successful appeal.

Please join us in congratulating Rachel on this well-deserved recognition!

Thank you to Carma Hensen of and her team for inviting us to present at the American Association for Justice's Elder Abuse College: Delivering Results and Defending Dignity in Long-Term Care. Consultants Kate (pictured here) and Kodi were excited to be welcomed so warmly, and share their expertise on elder abuse and nursing home litigation pros. It was especially exciting to share the teaching stage with icons like jury genius Amy Pardeik, North Carolina trial legend Ken Connor, and Group President .

Meet Carma Henson!

Carma is a partner at Henson Fuerst, and has spent her career fighting to protect the rights of people who have been hurt, abused, or neglected through no fault of their own. Her practice is focused on handling nursing home abuse and neglect cases—always battling the large corporations that put profits over people, risking the health and safety of our most vulnerable and frail population in order to make a large profit.

Carma is the Immediate Past President of North Carolina Advocates for Justice (NCAJ) and has served as President and Vice President of NCAJ’s Nursing Home Litigation Section. Carma has also served as the Chair of the Nursing Home Litigation Group for the American Association for Justice (AAJ). Outside of work, Carma and her family spend much of their free time with extended family, and love spending as much time as possible at the beach.
