Your priority date becoming current is an important step in the Green Card process. But visa availability can change before your case is approved.
đ The Visa Bulletin is updated based on visa demand and the annual limits for employment-based and family-sponsored immigrant visas. A priority date can move forward, remain unchanged, or move backward (retrogress) as visa demand changes.
â ī¸ If your priority date becomes current and you file Form I-485, a later retrogression may prevent USCIS from approving your application until an immigrant visa number becomes available again.
đ This is why staying informed about Visa Bulletin changes matters throughout your Green Card processâeven after your priority date becomes current.
