New restaurant alert — and this opening comes with a celebrity twist. 🐔

Chicken Salad Chick is opening its first Sarasota County location at Fruitville Farms (6650 Fruitville Road) on September 29. Sports broadcaster Dick Vitale will be there for a Friends & Family ribbon-cutting event benefiting the V Foundation for Cancer Research, and the first 100 guests in line walk away with free chicken salad rewards for a year.

Six new gates. A Wolfgang Puck restaurant. And a whole lot more room to breathe at PGD. ✈️

Punta Gorda Airport just broke ground on a $44 million expansion of the Bailey Terminal, and it’s a big deal for all of us. Six new departure gates are opening this fall, bringing the terminal to 12 gates total once the full project wraps in 2027. Passenger traffic jumped 18.5% last year to 2.28 million travelers, and this expansion is exactly what our growing community needs to keep up.

Big healthcare news for our Venice and South Sarasota County neighbors. 🏥

The Sarasota County Public Hospital Board just approved a new outpatient cancer center on the Venice campus, part of the Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute. The multi-story facility will include radiation oncology, medical and surgical oncology, infusion services, diagnostic imaging, and an endoscopy center — construction is expected to wrap in 2028.

Okay, so real talk I saw this trend and thought it was hilarious but the truth is a year ago I really did not have any hobbies. I remember someone asking me, and I told them real estate because that’s the only thing I do 24/7. (which, by the way, I do love) but I still think hobbies are something important to have!

So after that conversation I started an herb garden, started making sourdough, buying puzzles to attempt their reassembly, painting, and reading to figure out what I actually like to do.

What’s the hobby you enjoy most? I still don’t have a consistent “one hobby” . I feel like mine’s constantly changing but reading would be my current favorite. If you’ve been around me much in the last month you probably already know what books I’m reading because I’m obsessed.

New park alert for our Placida neighbors! 🌳🏀

Charlotte County has officially completed phase one of the Herring Park. Phase one of the project includes two age-specific playgrounds, a basketball court, tennis court, fitness hub, multi-purpose field, walking track, and three pavilions — all funded through the county’s local option sales tax.

Sarasota just backed one of our favorite green spaces with $1 million 🌾🦅

A coalition of local foundations — led by the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation and Gulf Coast Community Foundation, alongside the Sarasota Audubon Society and Big Waters Land Trust — launched a $1 million matching campaign to restore and “rewild” the Quad Parcels at the Celery Fields. Every dollar donated by the community gets matched, doubling the impact on this well-loved conservation spot.
