Who knew networking could come with bowling shoes? 🎳

What a fantastic night supporting the Alzheimer’s New Jersey Bowling Tournament, hosted by Kristina Pietrowicz and CareOne at Somerset Valley!

The Van Dyck crew traded the office for the lanes, and while I’m not sure any of us are ready for the professional bowling tour, we definitely brought the energy.

I had a blast alongside my Van Dyck colleagues Julianne Bell, Jamie Webster and Jazmin James, our good friend Ted Tomlinson, and Regina Taylor, who provided some much-needed support and cheerleading from the sidelines!

One of the best parts of nights like this is seeing so many friends and colleagues from our professional community come together outside of work. A special shoutout to Michele Gidosh for being there to sponsor, support and cheer everyone on.

This is what community looks like. Great people, great relationships, plenty of laughs, and everyone coming together to support a cause that means so much to the families we serve.

Thank you, Kristina and CareOne at Somerset Valley, for putting together such a great event. We had an absolute blast.

And for the record... the Van Dyck team may need a little more practice before the rematch. 🎳

What happens when professionals who truly care about older adults and their families come together? New ideas, stronger partnerships, and better support for the community.

We were delighted to welcome Annette Murphy, Director of Home Care and Care Management, and Kelly Aylward, Director of Marketing and Community Relations, from Springpoint at Home to the Van Dyck Law Group Bridgewater office.

They joined Casey Gordon, Director of Operations; Julianne Bell, Life Care Liaison; and Sheli Monacchio, Executive Director of Van Dyck Law Group and co-founder of The Dementia Center, for a meaningful conversation about caregiver education and supporting families navigating aging, dementia, and long-term care.

Casey also introduced the Caregiver Confidence Series, which provides caregivers with practical guidance, helpful resources, and reassurance throughout their caregiving journey.

Thank you, Annette and Kelly, for visiting us and for your shared commitment to serving families. We are excited about the opportunities ahead!

Caregiver burnout can affect anyone who cares for others.

You don’t have to be a full-time family caregiver to experience caregiver burnout.

You might be a nurse, CNA, home health aide, social worker, case manager, healthcare professional, senior living professional, adult child, spouse, friend, member of the sandwich generation, or someone simply trying to help a person you care about.

This workshop is for you.

On Friday, September 25, I’ll be presenting Caregiver Burnout, part of our Caregiver Confidence Series, at Mira Vie at Warren.

This complimentary one-hour workshop is open to healthcare professionals, community professionals, family caregivers, friends, and members of the greater community.

You do not need to be a Mira Vie resident or family member to attend. This event is open to the community.

We’ll talk about recognizing the early warning signs of burnout, understanding the difference between stress and burnout, setting healthier boundaries, accepting help without guilt, and knowing when additional support may be needed.

Whether caregiving is your profession, your family responsibility, or simply a role life has placed you in, you are welcome.

Taking care of yourself is not stepping away from caregiving. It is part of caregiving.

The road ahead is easier when you have a plan.

This peaceful path at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater is a reminder that we don't always know exactly what lies around the next turn.

The same is true for life.

Aging, changes in health, caregiving and long-term care can bring unexpected decisions for families. Planning ahead can't predict every turn, but it can give you greater confidence about the direction you're heading.

At Van Dyck Law Group, we help families prepare for the road ahead with knowledge, thoughtful planning and peace of mind.

You may not know what's around the corner. But you can be prepared for it.

Some of the best partnerships start with a conversation, a cup of coffee… and apparently a donut. 🍩

Great spending time at the Caring Connections of New Jersey Hunterdon County gathering at Duck Donuts in Flemington with Kristen Ziolkowski, Lifestyle Advisor at Laurel Circle, and my Van Dyck Law Group colleague Julianne Bell.

For me, networking is about much more than exchanging business cards. It’s about building genuine relationships with the people and organizations serving older adults, caregivers, and families throughout New Jersey.

The stronger our professional connections are, the better we can connect families with the right resources when they need them most.

Thank you to CCNJ Hunterdon County for bringing good people together. Looking forward to continuing the conversations and collaborations.

The best time to learn about care options is before your family is facing a crisis.

Julianne Bell, Life Care Liaison at Van Dyck Law Group, and I recently visited Preferred Care at Hamilton, where Community Liaison Quinn Nicolai gave us a wonderful tour and shared more about their short-term rehabilitation and long-term care services.

Building relationships with trusted local care providers helps us better understand the resources available to families throughout our community. Thank you, Quinn, for the warm welcome, your time, and the valuable information.

The strongest senior care networks are built face to face.

We had a wonderful time connecting with fellow professionals at the CCNJ event hosted by Avalon Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center.

It was great catching up with Kristina Smith, Director of Admissions at Avalon, and spending time with Keith Monacchio and my Van Dyck Law Group colleague Julianne Bell, Life Care Liaison.

Events like this are more than networking. They strengthen the relationships that help families find trusted guidance, care, and resources during some of life’s most difficult transitions.

Sometimes a quiet moment can get you thinking about the things that matter most.

This familiar Princeton sculpture, “Out to Lunch” by J. Seward Johnson Jr., sits in Palmer Square in the heart of downtown Princeton, capturing a simple moment with a good book.

It also reminds us that some of life's most important lessons aren't found on the page. They're passed down through conversations with our parents, grandparents and the people who came before us.

Planning for the future can start the same way. A conversation about your wishes, your family and what matters most to you can make an enormous difference later.

At Van Dyck Law Group, Princeton isn't just where we have an office. It's a community we're proud to be part of.

When was the last time you looked at your estate plan?

Life rarely stays the same after the documents are signed.

A marriage, a new grandchild, a move, a change in finances or a health concern can all be good reasons to take another look.

Even if nothing major has happened, an older plan may deserve a review.

Your estate plan should reflect the life you're living today.
