Yesterday marked an important step forward for students with disabilities and their families.

I am proud to be part of the legal team standing alongside twelve courageous students, their families, and the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates, who achieved a significant victory in their proposed class action lawsuit against the Clark County School District (CCSD) and the Nevada Department of Education (NDE).

The lawsuit seeks systemic reforms to address widespread violations of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Those violations include, among many others, failing to locate and identify children with disabilities, conduct appropriate evaluations for children already identified, and provide appropriate specially designed instruction, related services, and behavioral supports.

Yesterday, the federal district court denied the motions to dismiss filed by both CCSD and NDE. This means the case will move forward—an important step toward achieving meaningful change for students with disabilities in the fifth largest school district in the country.

Our legal team—including Freeman Law Offices, Reisman Gran Zuba, Rogich Law Firm, Wasserman Little, and Simmons Freeman—is honored to represent these courageous families. This victory, however, belongs to them. Their willingness to stand up and demand change is what makes progress possible.

This ruling is just one step, but it brings us closer to ensuring that all students with disabilities receive the education and supports they are legally entitled to and deserve.

A class action on behalf of a dozen special needs students and their families against the Clark County School District and the Nevada Department of Education is

I’m excited to share that I’ve been invited to present at the upcoming Global Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) & Autism Summit in Langhorne, PA, this September.

The event is hosted by Woods System of Care in partnership with The Network: Towards Unity for Health (TUFH)—a global health organization recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO)—and the Mollie Woods Hare Global Center of Excellence.

This two-day Summit will focus on bold strategies to reimagine care for individuals with IDD and autism, exploring whole-person care, family-driven support, and inclusive policies that empower neurodivergent people.

I’m proud to be part of this important event advancing meaningful change in how we support the IDD and autism communities—both locally and globally.

Wonderful decision out of the Supreme Court for students with disabilities!

The Supreme Court on Thursday unanimously sided with a Minnesota family that has been battling their local school district over the education of their daughter in a decision that could make it easier for other parents of disabled children to seek damages from schools under federal disability laws.

Today, I had the profound honor of being admitted to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court. Standing before all nine Justices, hearing our names called, and receiving their nods of acknowledgment was truly unforgettable. As I walked through the Court’s historic halls, surrounded by portraits of the former Justices who have shaped our nation’s legal legacy, I was deeply reminded of the privilege and responsibility that comes with the practice of law. An inspiring and humbling milestone I will always cherish.

For twenty years, I’ve fought as an attorney for parents of children with disabilities—demanding accountability from school districts and state agencies that routinely fail to meet their legal and moral obligations. Again and again, I watch schools mask systemic underfunding by reframing essential services as “unnecessary.” Let’s be honest: this isn’t about need—it’s about money. And the cost is paid by our kids. One day, these children will have to tell their own kids, “I never had a chance to learn that—because my school didn’t give me what I needed.” That’s not just a funding issue. That’s a civil rights crisis. We must do better.
