Probate can be a nightmare, here’s how to avoid it.

What is Probate?
Probate is the legal process of administering a deceased person’s estate. If you have a will, probate will involve proving that your will is legally valid and authentic, as well as executing your instructions and paying any applicable taxes.
After an asset holder dies, the court then appoints either an executor (named in the will) or an administrator (if no will was left) to administer the process of probate. Thursday was a bit difficult but ended good. After waiting over 2 weeks for the insurance disbursement check for a client, it finally arrived. It was a small check but my client urgently needed it- like Now to pay for her rent and a loan from a friend. She had no bank account. We met at the bank for the check signing- in separate cars- her Nurses’s aide drove her. I waited in the drive through lane for 30 mins then the cashier said they couldn’t cash an insurance check. We finally figured out a solution and. Was able to hand my dear client her cash. I then splurged w some of my fee to buy popcorn from Shirley’s gourmet popcorn in Westerville. It had been a real fight to get any recovery for my client but, as a nurse, I knew that any car crash can cause injuries. I feel very good about helping my client.

People are concerned about meeting others, even to sign important documents. On Saturday, I "remotely" notarized documents for a client who lives in assisted care facility. It was quick- simple and all was done with no risks to him or me!!! Remote notary or e-signatures are quick and cheap.
