After twenty-five years as a practicing attorney representing law enforcement interests, I am now focusing on helping ordinary people with their estate plans (Wills, Trusts, Power of Attorney, etc.) I would like to help you help your family and your loved ones by easing the administrative burdens on them for that inevitable day when our time on this planet comes to an end. Here’s my story: I spent
nineteen years as in-house counsel to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department (2002-2021), and six years in private practice working representing law enforcement officers and their labor associations (1996-2002). During that time, I also worked as a volunteer Judge Pro Tem with the San Diego County Superior Court, hearing small claims cases (2014-2021). Amid the grieving, there was a significant silver lining: Both of them had made the very wise decision to have an estate plan, and so both my mother-in-law, and my father, respectively, were spared a lot of the aggravation that comes from dealing with the administrative headaches associated with the death of a spouse. As a result, they were allow to focus on grieving and healing. The same will be true when they pass. My wife, myself, and my sister will be able to settle their respective estates without the expense or hassle of probate. Everyone should have an estate plan.
