Fun legal fact of the day:
When charged with a crime, you are presumed innocent. You do not have to prove your innocence. You do not have to prove anything at all. The government has to prove your guilt. This is why as defendants and defense attorneys, a lot of our job consists of sitting back quietly and waiting to defend the charges in due time, and sometimes that feels like "not doing anything" (even though, behind the scenes, you and your attorney are collecting evidence, defenses, and strategies... it just may never see the courtroom because until the government proves your guilt, you're still innocent).
