Every year on the second Thursday in May, Keller Williams offices around the world close their doors for RED Day — a day dedicated to volunteering, serving, and giving back to the communities we call home.

We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity and dedication of our amazing agents who continue to live out our culture of service year after year. This year, we’re proud to spend the day volunteering at Birch Community Center making a positive impact together. ❤️

5,000 homes.

What started with one client… one opportunity… and a commitment to do things the right way…
turned into something far bigger than we ever imagined.

Not just sales — relationships.
Not just houses — homes, memories, and new chapters.

5,000 times families trusted us.
5,000 times we showed up.

And the most exciting part?

We’re just getting started.

Daylight Saving Time was originally adopted during World War I as a way to conserve fuel by reducing the need for artificial lighting in the evenings. The idea was simple: move the clock forward in spring so we get more usable daylight after work. It returned during World War II and eventually became standard practice across much of the United States.

The theory was that extended evening light would reduce electricity use and increase productivity. In reality, modern research shows the energy savings are minimal. Heating, cooling, and electronics largely offset any lighting reductions. What remains are longer summer evenings, more outdoor activity, and modest economic benefits in retail and recreation.

The downside is real. The clock change disrupts sleep cycles, affects circadian rhythms, and is linked to short-term spikes in accidents and health events after the shift. What started as a wartime conservation strategy has evolved into a debated tradition, with growing questions about whether it still makes sense today.
