Just a friendly reminder to our wonderful clients and visitors:

Starting June 1, 2020 10 Dana on-street parking will be blocked off in order to accommodate the excellent dining establishments, that surround our office, to offer outdoor seating!

Please plan accordingly to secure on-street or garage parking elsewhere. Thanks in advance and we look forward to seeing you soon.

The closures, which take effect June 1, will allow businesses to expand into public spaces so they can serve customers and observe social distancing.

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our economy is substantial and increasing. It will have a significant effect in most industries, including construction and trades. There is no doubt that the pandemic will cause delays and/or additional costs on construction projects, and this may cause contract issues for many contractors.

There may even come a time during this pandemic when your local government suspends all construction activities for a period of time, completely halting all projects. Giving formal notice is the first step in notifying the other party to the contract that there will be an impact that is outside of your control, and it is it not too early to do that.

Here are some things to consider when putting together a formal notice:

Consider what your contract says. Does it address how to give notice under these circumstances?

What are the contractual grounds for the request for more time/increased cost? How does your contact address these issues?

How much extra time and/or cost do you expect to come from this pandemic?

Does your contract allow for termination under any of the current facts and circumstances (for example, if the government has ordered all construction to stop)?
