During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re reminded that a cancer diagnosis affects far more than a person’s health—it touches every part of life, including work.

In a recent cover story for the Portland Business Journal, Tonkon Torp Managing Partner Anna Sortun shares her personal experience navigating a diagnosis while continuing to lead, work, and find her way through an unexpected chapter of life.

Her story is a reminder of the importance of compassion and support in the workplace—and of the difference we can make when we show up for one another.

We’re grateful to Anna for sharing her experience and to the Portland Business Journal for helping bring this important conversation to a wider audience.

Anna will continue this important conversation as a panelist at the Executive Women’s Health Summit on November 3.

This week, we celebrated a summer of friendly competition and some impressive support for downtown Portland. The 12 participating firms logged nearly 3,200 total visits to downtown restaurants and coffee shops!

Coffee Passport Winner:
☕ PwC won the Coffee Passport Challenge with 332 visits to 31 coffee shops.

Lunch out Winner:
🏆 Tonkon Torp LLP won the Lunches Out Challenge with 320 lunches, including visits to 68 unique restaurants.

Special Mention:
👏 Dunn Carney LLP had the highest combined participation across the Coffee Passport and Lunches Out challenges.

We’re excited to celebrate the end of a fantastic summer with law students Abby Durrant, Index Marcus, and Irina Toland! Abby (Vermont Law & Graduate School) and Index (Lewis & Clark Law School) successfully completed their 2L summers and have accepted offers to return to the firm as first-year associates in Fall 2027. Irina (Willamette University College of Law) wrapped up an impressive 1L summer and has accepted an invitation to return to the firm for her 2L summer in 2027. Congratulations!
