We are celebrating the resolution of a civil rights claim against the City of Gresham, Oregon police department.

My client, a young black man, alleged in US District Court, that a Gresham police officer violated his constitutional rights when the officer, without justification, tackled him to the ground and put a gun to his head.

I was honored to be chosen by the US District Court to represent this principled and courageous young man as a pro bono appointment.

Congratulations to Sonia Montalbano, with whom Law Works LLC has partnered in previous victories, for her masterful work showing a jury that TriMet, our quasi-governmental transit system, bears a heightened responsibility to ensure safer transit systems, and that TriMet failed to implement an engineering firm’s safety recommendations for years.

The jurors decided TriMet was responsible for 43 percent of the accident, the driver was responsible for 15 percent of the accident and Laing was responsible for 42 percent.
