Many people are surprised to learn that judges do not decide what criminal charges are filed, what laws are passed, or how law enforcement agencies operate.

In our system of government, those responsibilities belong to prosecutors, legislators, and executive branch officials. A judge has a different role—one that is essential to preserving fairness, protecting constitutional rights, and maintaining public confidence in the courts.

Every day, judges are called upon to make decisions that affect individuals, families, businesses, crime victims, and entire communities. Those decisions must be based on the facts presented in court and the law as written—not public pressure, politics, personal opinions, or favoritism.

A judge’s responsibility is to ensure that every person who comes before the court receives a fair hearing. Judges protect the constitutional rights guaranteed to all citizens and apply the law equally, regardless of who is involved in a case.

Experience matters because courtroom decisions often involve complex legal issues, difficult facts, and significant consequences. The people of Kay and Noble Counties deserve a judiciary that is fair, firm, impartial, and committed to following the rule of law.

For the past 14 years, I have had the privilege of serving on the bench and working to uphold those principles. I remain committed to treating every person with dignity and respect while applying the law fairly and consistently.

As Election Day approaches, I encourage every eligible voter to learn about the role of a district judge, research the candidates, and participate in this important election.

Thank you for your continued support, your trust, and your commitment to our justice system.

As Election Day approaches, I am reminded of the tremendous responsibility entrusted to a district judge.

The role of a judge is not to make laws, decide what charges are filed, or respond to political pressure. A judge’s duty is to listen carefully, apply the law fairly, protect constitutional rights, and make decisions based on the facts presented in court.

For the past 14 years, Judge Lee Turner has served on the bench with that responsibility in mind every day. His career reflects more than 36 years of legal experience, including service in law enforcement, as a prosecutor, in private practice, and as a judge. That broad experience has provided a unique understanding of every side of the courtroom.

Experience matters because the decisions made in a courtroom affect real people, real families, victims, defendants, businesses, and communities. Every case deserves a judge who is prepared, knowledgeable, and committed to applying the law fairly and impartially.

Throughout his judicial service, Judge Turner has worked to uphold the rule of law while treating everyone who appears before the court with dignity and respect. His commitment has always been to fairness, firmness, impartiality, and integrity.

As we count down to June 16, I respectfully ask for your support and your vote for District Judge, Office No. 1, serving Kay and Noble Counties.

Before practicing law, Judge Turner served as a police officer — an experience that gave him a firsthand understanding of how the justice system affects real people. That foundation of public service has defined every chapter of his career: as an officer, as an attorney, as Special Judge, and now as your elected District Judge and Chief Judge for the 8th Judicial District. More than four decades of service to this community. His commitment has never wavered.

He respectfully asks for your support and your vote on June 16, 2026.
