Plymouth’s future belongs to the people of Plymouth.

Yes on Charter Change is about opening the door to a public process—listening, exploring different options, asking questions, and having an honest discussion about how our local government should work for the future.

Under Massachusetts law, if voters approve the creation of a charter commission, nine commissioners are elected to study the charter and develop recommendations. Any proposed new or revised charter ultimately goes back to Plymouth voters for approval.

Listen. Explore. Discuss. Let the voters decide.

Sergio Harnais has served Plymouth in several important roles, including as a Town Meeting representative, a member of the Finance Committee, and an elected member of the Board of Selectmen.

Through his firsthand experience, Sergio has seen both the strengths and limitations of Plymouth’s current form of government. He believes our town has outgrown a legislative body that meets only two or three times each year and that Plymouth needs a government capable of responding more effectively to the complex issues facing a community of our size.

Sergio believes it has been approximately 24 years since Plymouth seriously considered meaningful structural change, with more recent proposals offering only minor adjustments to the existing Town Meeting system. While he respects that residents may have different opinions, he has long maintained—even while serving as an elected official—that Plymouth’s current form of government is too antiquated for the town we have become.

As a Charter Commissioner, Sergio would bring experience, an open mind, and a commitment to exploring a more responsive and effective government for Plymouth’s future.
