El personal del Defensor del Pueblo del Distrito de Cumberland/Gloucester/Salem y representantes de los Servicios Jurídicos de Sur de Nueva Jersey (SJLS) presentarán un seminario informativo para analizar los procesos judiciales actuales sobre violencia doméstica.

SJLS brindará información sobre el proceso y procedimientos para obtener una orden de restricción e información sobre la Ley de Prevención de la Violencia Doméstica. El personal del tribunal estará disponible para responder preguntas sobre las políticas y procesos del tribunal.

3RD DEGREE THEFT CHARGE REMANDED AND DISMISSED

Jonathan Diego, Esq. (DIEGO LAW FIRM, LLC) represented an individual facing a 3rd degree criminal offense for theft for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars. Mr. Diego's client was exposed to 5 years in prison, $15,000.00 in fines, plus additional fees and costs if he was found guilty of the allegations. Due to Mr. Diego's zealous advocacy the 3rd degree criminal offense was downgraded, remanded from Superior Court to municipal court, and dismissed after Mr. Diego successfully challenged the State's evidence against his client.

DWI ALLEGATION DISMISSED

Jonathan Diego, Esq. (DIEGO LAW FIRM, LLC) recently appeared in a South Jersey municipal court for a client charged with DWI and other violations. Due to Mr. Diego's zealous advocacy, successfully challenging the State's evidence, the DWI allegation was dismissed. The dismissal of the DWI saved Mr. Diego's client nearly $5,000.00 in fines, fees, costs, and surcharges, as well as precluding the potential driver's license loss.

Los Angeles native and retired U.S. Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Mike Aguilar was recently honored for Hispanic Heritage Month, recognizing a historic military career that made him the first American of Mexican descent to reach the rank of brigadier general in Marine Corps history. 🇲🇽🇺🇸🫡

Aguilar’s journey started with a childhood dream of serving in the military and becoming a pilot. He went on to serve for roughly three decades in the Marine Corps, flying helicopters and holding major leadership positions before reaching the historic rank of brigadier general.

More than 25 years after making history, Aguilar was honored by U.S. Rep. Dave Min during Hispanic Heritage Month. Aguilar said he hopes his story can serve as an example for other people of Mexican descent and demonstrate what can be achieved regardless of someone’s background. 🇲🇽💯

Aguilar retired from the Marines in 2001 but has remained connected to aviation. Today, he serves as president of the Flying Leatherneck Historical Foundation and is helping lead efforts to establish a museum dedicated to preserving the history of Marine Corps aviation. 🇺🇸🫡

25TH REMEMBRANCE OF THE SEPTEMBER 11TH TERRORIST ATTACKS

Twenty five years have passed since the tragic and cowardly terrorist attacks in New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. On that day nearly 3,000 innocent civilians lost there lives due to the pure hatred and evil of 19 individuals from Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and Lebanon. Thousands more have died during subsequent years due to 9/11 related illnesses. Many tens of thousands of family, friends, and loved ones remain scarred by the tragic deaths of that devastating moment in time.
Approximately 100 million young Americans were not alive on that infamous day. Sadly, too many young Americans do they understand the historical and tragic significance of 9/11, and the necessary subsequent military actions our nation undertook to destroy the foundation of middle eastern terror networks. My generation bears part of the blame. Those of us that lived through the horrors of 9/11, along with our public school districts, and too many of our universities, have failed the subsequent generation(s). We have permitted an extremely distorted and sanitized version, of who committed the atrocities leading to the untimely deaths of thousands of Americans on 9/11, to be presented to those born during the past 25 years.
Sadly, the same freedoms generations have fought to create and preserve for 250 years are being utilized against our nation and our citizenry by other terrorists and their ill advised supporters.
Today is a day to honor and remember the thousands who perished on 9/11. We should honor their memory and sacrifices by making unpopular decisions that ensure our nation and our values continue for an additional 250 years; regardless of who may be offended by same. Our nation owes them no less.

Beach Patrol lifeguards are formally recognized as first responders...something those of us who have spent long days on the stands, spending hours in the water for can layouts, and pulling the oars in order to keep all on the beach safe always knew. After 10 seasons on Atlantic and Cape May County Beach Patrols (retiring as a Lieutenant) I appreciate the dedication, focus, and physical training necessary to go in when others are unable to get out.
