About 18 months ago, my father took on a pro-bono appeal where the trial court sentenced a 19-year old first offender to 25 years in prison. He, correctly and passionately, felt the court relied on improper considerations to reach such a harsh sentence.

Today, we are so proud to announce that 4th DCA has agreed with our argument and reversed the trial court’s decision and remanded the case to the trial court for a new sentence. We sincerely hope that this case can continue to push Florida courts in the direction of fair and transparent sentencing.

Lida Law, PLLC is proud to have gone to the 4th District Court of Appeals last Wednesday, 3/28/18, where we vigorously advocated on behalf of our pro-bono client. We believe our client was wrongfully sentenced to 25 years in prison when there was no support in the record for a sentence of that length.
