Sometimes the most important question isn’t “Can I?” It’s “What does this mean for my practice?”

A viral story involving a therapist and client got me thinking about how quickly we collapse clinical judgment, professional ethics, legal requirements and risk management into one question.

They’re not the same, and for private practice owners, knowing the difference matters.

This isn’t about deciding what happened in someone else’s practice from the internet. It’s about knowing what questions to ask in your own.

That’s the conversation I’m interested in.

What will be your legacy?

This weekend I was back at La Casita (or just Casita, as the kids call it now 😂) hosting our 3rd in-person Prepárate Caimán and my 5th panel since joining the UF Association of Hispanic Alumni board.

When I joined the board, student engagement became one of the things I cared about most. I wanted more students in the room. More alumni coming back. More people knowing AHA existed and feeling like there was a place for them here.

We talk a lot about fundraising because it’s what keeps an organization going. But this is what the money is for. It allows us to bring our community together, create opportunities for our students, and fund scholarships that make a real difference.

I looked up at that mirror this weekend and the question hit a little differently than it did when I first joined.

What will be my legacy? I think I’m still figuring that out.

But I hope it has something to do with leaving the door a little wider open than I found it.

Last night, The Daily Drip celebrated Volume V. FIVE YEARS.

Somewhere in the middle of celebrating, I opened the magazine and saw my own article in it.

I genuinely had no idea it was going to be there.

I don’t know why, but seeing my words actually printed on those pages got me.

I haven’t been part of The Daily Drip for five years. Not even close. But when I think about how much has changed in me in the short time I have been part of this community, it’s kind of crazy.

I’m more confident in my voice. I’m clearer about what I’m building. I’m saying yes to things I probably would have convinced myself I wasn’t ready for before.

And the coolest part is that it doesn’t stop with me. It shows up in my business, with my clients, in my community, and at home with my family.

This volume’s theme was Where Influence Meets Poder. And after last night, I keep thinking about that word.

Poder.

There’s something different about realizing you don’t have to wait for someone else to give you permission to take up space, say what you think, build the thing, or go after what you want.

Maybe that’s what this season has been for me.

Then Instagram suggested Anything Can Happen for this post and… yeah, that felt pretty perfect. 🥹
